Geography

Children explore the world through maps, globes, and cultural studies.

Geography

Geography in the Montessori classroom introduces children to the physical and cultural world around them. Through hands-on materials, children develop an understanding of and appreciation for the diversity of our world.

Our geography curriculum covers:

  • Land and water forms — islands, lakes, peninsulas, and more
  • Continents and countries using puzzle maps
  • Cultural studies — traditions, foods, music, and clothing of different cultures
  • The globe and understanding our planet
  • Flags and symbols of nations
  • Basic physical geography — mountains, rivers, oceans

These activities nurture a child's natural curiosity about the world and foster respect for all cultures and peoples.
