Montessori Garden

Our school garden project is a beautiful example of how Montessori education brings together multiple areas of learning in a hands-on, meaningful way. Children are actively involved in every stage of the gardening process — from planting seeds to harvesting vegetables.

The Montessori Garden integrates several curriculum areas:

  • Science: Children observe plant life cycles, learn about photosynthesis, and study the role of insects and pollinators
  • Practical Life: Watering, weeding, and caring for plants teaches responsibility and fine motor skills
  • Math: Measuring plant growth, counting seeds, and tracking days to harvest
  • Language: Learning botanical vocabulary and documenting observations in garden journals
  • Geography: Understanding where different plants grow and what conditions they need

This season, our students have planted tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, herbs, and sunflowers. The children take great pride in caring for their garden and are always excited to see new growth.

The garden also teaches environmental awareness and an appreciation for where our food comes from — valuable lessons that extend well beyond the classroom.
